another eco dye adventure!

Another adventure in dyeing, this time some more solar dyeing. I did a whole range of small samples in different solutions and with different kinds of fabric. I sealed the outside of the tops of the small jars with bees wax because the little jars don't seal properly (I tested them), and with a lucky coincidence that it also looks quite nice! Usely it is adviced to seal the dyeing content by pouring bees wax straight in the jar on top of the dye but this time I made an exception because of the size of the jar, and to be honest also to restrain myself, it's an extra barrier to not open them to quickly. I only hope the central heating doesn't get to warm otherwise the bees wax will melt, but until now the jars did not get to hot, they just produce a soft aroma of beeswax that fills my livingroom, which is very pleasant. Loving this whole proces, but I have to be patient for long now, I don't know if I can control myself !

Weer een nieuw avontuur in het eco verven, deze keer iets meer over het verven op zonnekracht oftewel "solar dyeing". Ik heb deze keer een hele collectie proefjes gedaan, met verschillende soorten planten en bereidings manieren maar ook met verschillende soorten stof. Ik heb de buitenkant afgesloten met bijenwas omdat de kleine potjes niet goed sluiten (ik heb het getest), en het ziet er ook nog eens mooi uit! Meestal word geadviseerd om de bijenwas in de pot te gieten op het verfbad, maar ik heb hiervoor een uitzondering gemaakt, en het is ook nog handig omdat het  me tegenhoud de potjes niet te snel te openen. Het enige waar ik een beetje voor vrees is dat de centrale verwarming te warm word en daardoor de bijenwas smelt, maar tot nu toe is dat nog niet gebeurd, het enige wat nu gebeurd is dat de zachte geur van bijenwas mijn woonkamer vult, wat heerlijk is!  Ik moet zeggen het is erg leuk dit hele proces alleen nu moet ik me voor een hele lange tijd inhouden, en ik weet niet voor hoe lang ik mijn nieuwsgierigheid kan bedwingen!
